Der ursprünglichen, melancholischen Wärme des Doom fügen CONFUSION MASTER eine ordentliche Portion britisch geprägte Heavy Psychedelic hinzu -irgendwo zwischen The Heads und Electric Wizard. Das soll jedoch nicht heißen, dass die aus Rostock stammende Band nicht etwas ganz Eigenes zu kreieren imstande ist. Dazu sind die Mitglieder viel zu wenig unbeschriebene Blätter: die Bands, in denen die sie vorher bzw. immer noch aktiv sind, markieren die Speerspitze des deutschen D.I.Y.-Crust & Sludge- Undergrounds und sind sicher auch musikalisch ein Einfluss: WOJCZECH, CYNESS, BAD LUCK RIDES ON WHEELS und AEQUATORKAELTE.
Musikalisch liefern CONFUSION MASTER allerdings mitnichten eine Variation dieser eben genannten Acts, sondern vielmehr eine Ergänzung. Sicher teilen die Rostocker die Attitüde des Punk, verpflichten sich bedingungslos dem D.I.Y.-Anspruch und fühlen sich in kulturellen Freiräumen am wohlsten, die der Kommerz Inhalte und Verantwortung entgegensetzen. Genau deshalb wirken CONFUSION MASTER auch musikalisch so fokussiert und gefestigt: mit nahezu 100 gespielten Shows in den letzten Jahren mit u.a. Dopethrone, Crowskin, Bongzilla, Beehoover und Black Shape Of Nexus wird deutlich, was für die Band an erster Stelle steht: die Bühne!
Die vorliegende Platte wurde im Winter 2020 in verschiedenen Live Sessions mit Engineer Lutz Baumann aufgenommen, von der Band selbst produziert und von James Plotkin (u.a. Scorn, OLD, Khanate, Khlyst, Phantomsmasher) gemastert.
Die Platte erscheint auf Vinyl only mit einer beigelegten CD, die einen weiteren Bonustrack enthält. Zum Release erscheint außerdem eine limitierte Fan-Edition, die neben der LP und CD eine weitere 12inch Single mit zwei zusätzlichen Tracks, ein Patch, einen Sticker sowie ein Tape “Live at Fusion Festival” enthält .

Confusion Master is a band – 4 guys, drawn from Punk and Metal circuits, sharing their love for sound, misanthrophy, D.I.Y. values and vintage gear. The members have earned merits in underground stalwart hordes such as CYNESS, WOJCZECH, BAD LUCK RIDES ON WHEELS and AEQUATORKAELTE.
Confusion Master have been presenting themselves as a veritable touring machine in support for bands like Like Rats, Dopethrone, Crowskin, Bongzilla, Beehoover and labelmates Black Shape Of Nexus and conquered the 2019 edition of the mighty ROADBURN Festival in one strik – the queue was around the block. No kidding.
Their debut album “Awaken” was released in 2018 and earned raving feedback from the international Doom and Stoner Rock crowd. Now it’s time for the next chapter:
After excessive touring on their debut album Confusion Master again exchanged daylight for practice room jams exhaustingly. Their refusal as only antidote to illusions led them craft 4 new tracks rooted in tritonous groove, odd percussion breaks and psychedelic swing. Clearly not to be mistaken for a love and peace affair but channeling hardcore anger in its purity. The result? A bonafide gain in Horror Cosmic Doom with a strong lovecraftian existential swirl. None better than pig hands/ Antonio Ilievsky’s stunning artwork illustration contributes its class to it.
With “Haunted”, recorded during the comprehensive winter desolation in 2020, incorporating various live set up sessions with acoustic light by Lutz Baumann and mastered by James Plotkin the baltic sea based quartet once again is bringing the salt. 41 minutes of raging insanity on your turntable for you to remember the dead cannot die while they are still hungry.

“Haunted” is being released on 12inch vinyl with a bundled CD. The CD features one bonus track not on the vinyl. With the release comes a special fan’s edition containintg an additional 12inch single containing two more tracks, a patch, a sticker and a tape “Live at Fusion festival”.
